Mark is an experienced trial attorney whose practice emphasizes complex commercial litigation, business disputes, construction litigation, and contract-related matters. His litigation experience includes commercial contract disputes, shareholder disputes, real-property disputes, collection matters, mediation, arbitration, and trial. Mark also has substantial experience representing clients in all phases of family-law matters.

Professional Experience

Beginning in July 2026, Mark joined Peak One Law as Of Counsel, where he focuses his practice on general business litigation, complex construction disputes, construction liens, project delays, and other contract challenges.

In 2020, Mark reunited with his former colleague, G. Stephen Long, during the formation of GSL Trial Lawyers. Mark brought considerable trial experience in cases involving commercial contract disputes, shareholder disputes, real-property disputes, and collection matters. Following the untimely death of Mr. Long in 2022, Mark relaunched his own firm, where he focused on representing family-law clients, small-business owners, and individuals in criminal-defense matters.

In 2006, Mark founded his own law firm. He represented small-business owners, debt buyers, banks, and other small- to medium-sized businesses in a wide variety of matters, including debt-collection efforts, contract formation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation. He also represented clients in family-law and criminal-law matters.

In March 2001, Mark joined a large national law firm, where he litigated several complex commercial and business disputes.

Military Service and Legal Background

After high school, Mark enlisted in the United States Army as a military policeman. Following training, he was assigned to New York City, where he served as a Protective Service Agent for the Department of Defense and provided security to high-ranking Department of Defense officials and their foreign guests.

In 1988, Mark received an Army ROTC scholarship and attended Colorado State University. He graduated in 1991 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army.

Mark earned his Juris Doctor in 1995 from Western Michigan University. Following graduation, he received a fellowship to study environmental law at The George Washington University Law School. After completing his LL.M. in Environmental Law in 1996, Mark was admitted to the Colorado bar.

In October 1996, Mark entered the United States Air Force as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate (JAG). He served as Chief of Environmental and Civil Law and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. In January 1998, he became Area Defense Counsel for the Eastern Circuit of the United States. In that role, Mark defended more than 50 criminal trials at Air Force bases throughout the eastern United States and Panama.

Mark was later reassigned to Hanscom Air Force Base near Boston, Massachusetts. There, he served as Chief of Environmental Law, primarily negotiating Federal Facility Agreements with the Environmental Protection Agency. He also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney and Deputy Staff Judge Advocate.
